Rhubarb Shandy

What is more refreshing than the sweet and tangy combination of beer and lemonade during the sweltering summer months? With shandy being the new unofficial drink of the summer, Beacon Hill Hotel & Bistro’s bar team has crafted an all-new cocktail combining the rural, rustic flavors of New England with the lighthearted flavors of the seasonal beer in its all new “Rhubarb Shandy” cocktail.  This refreshing blend of homemade rhubarb syrup, fresh lemon juice, vodka and Stella Artois ($10) will have guests relaxed and ready for the summer heat in no time.

Try the “Rhubarb Shandy” at the BHHB or make it at home for any summertime celebration with family and friends:

1 oz Housemade Rhubarb Syrup
½ oz vodka
½ oz fresh lemon juice
Fill with Stella Artois
Lemon Twist

Serve in a chilled glass and garnish with a lemon twist!

 

Picnic in the Park Is Back!

What better way to enjoy a leisurely and possibly even sultry summer day or evening than eating bistro-fare al fresco? Beginning May 15th, 2014, surprise that special someone with a gourmet meal of your choosing. Guests pick from our normal lunch and dinner menus and need only call 1-hour ahead to place their order “Picnic Style.” Your meal will be tucked away in a rustic picnic basket along with a blanket for leisurely picnic-dining. Grab that special someone and get outside! Available Monday through Friday from 11:30AM to 3:00PM, and during our dinner hours seven days a week.

Summer Menu Celebrates New England

We are celebrating the tastes and flavors New England has to offer with new menu items created by new Executive Chef Lucas Sousa. Chef Sousa has added his personal touch to all of our menus from brunch, lunch and dinner to dessert.

During the week, take an extra-long lunch break and try our shrimp & arugula salad with avocado purèe, fennel, watermelon radish and orange vinaigrette, $16, Connecticut style crab roll, $15, or rigatoni with confit chicken, spinach and roasted mushrooms, $16.

For dinner try the tete de couchon with local peas, breakfast radish, frisee and bacon vinaigrette, $12, North Carolina shrimp, preserved lemon, chickpea & harissa, $13, housemade cavatelli with duck fennel sausage, peas & farm egg, $26, or oven roasted artichokes & potato, eggplant puree, mint, housemade ricotta & lentils, $18. Finish your meal on a sweet note with Chef’s meyer lemon crème brûlée or madeline cake with peaches & strawberries, anglaise and chantilly creme, both $8.

With an emphasis on the array of ingredients coming straight from local farms and fishermen, these delicious dishes will more than satisfy and will evolve as the summer progresses.  So enjoy these fantastic flavors while you can!

From August 17th-22nd and 24th-29th, join us at Beacon Hill Hotel & Bistro as we indulge in the annual summer dining event! We’ll be offering a 3-course, prix fixe lunch menu Monday through Friday for $25 and 3-course dinner Sunday through Thursday for $38 per person.
