Cecilia was raised in Stockholm, Sweden. She studied law at the University of Stockholm while getting her start in the restaurant business. She soon realized that her true passion lay in hospitality.
Peter hails from Buffalo, New York. He embarked on his restaurant career in Boston following his studies at Tufts University. In 1984, he departed for Europe where he read, wrote, skied three seasons in the Alps, co-managed a restaurant at the U.S. Embassy in Paris, and ultimately found himself working alongside Cecilia in a restaurant in downtown Stockholm.
In 1989, following an eight month trek around the world, they moved to Switzerland to study hotel and restaurant management at the École Hôtelière de Genève. Their next stop was Lisbon, Portugal, where they transformed an edifice dating from 1765 into the restaurant, La Brasserie de L’Entrecôte. The restaurant was,
and still is, a great success.
Cecilia and Peter moved to Beacon Hill in 1996. They sold their restaurant in Portugal in 1998. Then in 1999, they purchased a historic property on Charles Street in the heart of Beacon Hill with the intention of creating a high-end boutique hotel and restaurant, reminiscent of properties they had admired in Europe over the years. In December of 2000, Beacon Hill Hotel & Bistro opened its doors.
The couple lives in Beacon Hill with their three children.
